Bene, che mi fossi un po’ fissata con gli anni sessanta risulta, ormai, chiaro.. l’ispirazione, per il look REVIVAL per il SuperFashionParty a cui ho preso parte un paio di sere fa, è arrivata da una raccolta very trendy sui 60s 70s: So stilish!
Certo, non sarà proprio lo stile di questo MusicBlog, ma dato che il proprietario dice di ascoltare qualsiasi tipo di musica..non disdegnerà certo un consiglio su come ballare alla prossima seratina mondana! 😉

The One AM Radio

The One AM Radio

The One AM Radio is the musical project of Hrishikesh Hirway, a composer and songwriter from Los Angeles. The One AM Radio’s sound is often characterized by Hrishikesh’s lush, soothing vocals over dream-like instrumental arrangements. He does most of his own recording, playing several of the instruments and producing all the beats; the style borders electronica, folk, post-rock, chamber music, and ambient music. Live, he is joined by a changing line-up of accompanists.

Born in Massachusetts, Hrishikesh began The One AM Radio while a student at Yale University, where he studied art and film. Despite their sound, The One AM Radio has often played shows and released records within the DIY hardcore punk scene. Hirway’s family is from India, and in 2005, Hrishikesh moved to Mumbai to work on his music. He returned to Los Angeles in 2006.

The One AM Radio’s second album, “A Name Writ In Water,” was named by Time Out New York as one of the top 10 albums of 2004. A set of remixed tracks from that album was put out as an ep in January 2005, entitled “On the Shore of the Wide World.” The EP was the #1 download in iTunes’ electronic genre for 3 weeks upon its release, and stayed in the top 10 for another 3 weeks after that. The first track on the ep, a remix of “What You Gave Away” by alias, was licensed by Pontiac for a commercial that aired September 2006.

Io invece vi propongo una traccia sentita stanotte su Blip.fm, tratta dal suo terzo album intitolato “This Too Will Pass”, pubblicato nel 2007 per Danger Records. Canzone semplice come ha scritto Giuditta. Ma bella davvero.

Capita spesso che non riesca a prendere sonno.
Delle volte è una vera impresa dormire.
Allora – lo faccio quasi sempre – accendo il pc e mi guardo attorno in rete.
Stanotte è capitato di ascoltare un paio di brani di tale Alex Brown Church e i suoi Sea Wolf. Che mi ha catturato subito.
Mosso dalla curiosità ho cercato al solito su Wikipedia.
Questo è ciò che ho trovato:

Sea Wolf is a band lead by Alex Brown Church, an indie rock musican based in Los Angeles, California. Church attended film school at NYU and was a founding member of a group called Irving in 1998. Many of the songs he wrote as a member of Irving didn’t fit the group’s style, and so Church began performing as Sea Wolf with a rotating ensemble of backing musicians, playing locally in Los Angeles and recording demos in Seattle with famed producer Phil Ek (Band of Horses, The Shins, Fleet Foxes). Sea Wolf signed to Dangerbird Records in 2007 and released an EP and a full-length, the latter of which hit #24 on the Billboard Heatseekers chart.

Most recently, Sea Wolf gained popularity as the band’s song “You’re a Wolf” was featured in a General Motors ad for the 2008 Chevrolet Malibu Hybrid during the Beijing Olympic Games.

In addition to Alex Brown Church, the other members of Sea Wolf are currently Lisa Fendelander (keyboards), Theodore Liscinski (bass), Catherine Odell (cello), Joey Ficken (drums) and Aaron Robinson (guitar).

Consigliatissimo. Ma è probabile che lo conosciate già.
Di solito io arrivo sempre in ritardo per queste cose.

il Lunedì dei Lunedì

Lunedì 1 Settembre. Credo sia il Lunedì più temuto di tutti i tempi.
Il Lunedì della ripresa, quello che sancisce non solo l’avvio della settimana (con conseguente bye bye ai bagordi del weekend) ma anche quello che apre il mese settembrino.
In parole povere oggi le vacanze sono finite.
Si, tanta gente non è ancora rientrata… si, fa ancora caldo.
Ma Agosto è terminato, si ritorna tutti al lavoro/scuola/università.
La pacchia è finita, verrebbe da dire.
Non è detto.
Personalmente sono contento: ho voglia di riattivarmi, di rimettermi a lavoro.
Ho voglia di ritornare a pieno ritmo.

E non vedo l’ora che riprendano le serate nei vari locali.
Nel frattempo mi accontento di un po’ di musica trovata qua e là. Oggi per esempio mi sono ritrovato nella casella di posta un remix fresco fresco di Immuzikation che pare ne sforni uno a notte. Quello precedente lo trovate Altri ne trovate al solito da Brugo (1, 2) che ormai è tipo il mio archivio musicale per le serate festaiole se non si fosse ancora capito. Vi lascio poi una versione di “Push the Button” (pezzo delle Sugababes) cantata da Allo, darlin’, scoperta grazie a Nur.
